About The Contributor

Toma Spiriev is currently a neurosurgeon in Sofia, Bulgaria. During his residency training he has numerous international fellowships, and he has completed the EANS training courses receiving the Braakman prize. His main interests are neuroanatomy, neurooncology, skull base and neurovascular surgery.  His research is in 3D visualization techniques, 3D modeling, 3D printing and their application in neurosurgery for preoperative planning, education and training.

His professional interests are in the field of neurooncology (treatment of malignant and benign brain tumors, as well as those of the skull).Actively works for the routine introduction and development of intraoperative monitoring of neurological functions, minimally invasive surgical techniques, preoperative three-dimensional planning of operations using specialized computer programs.
