Lower extremity peripheral n. approaches

Lower extremity peripheral n. approaches

01.  Peroneal n.
An S-shaped skin incision along the course of the peroneal n. Right side. The peroneus longus muscle was divided exposing the superficial and deep branches of the peroneal nerve. The articular and recurrent branches are presented.
02. Lateral cutaneous nerve of the thigh
N. cutaneus femoris lateralis
A curved incision was made just below the anterior superior iliac spine. The sartorius muscle fascia was elevated exposing the N. cutaneus femoris lateralis.
N. cutaneus femoris lat. surgical exposure
The dissections was extended cranially exposing the inguinal ligament and anterior superior ilianc spine where the nerver is usually compressed. The inguinal lig. at that location is elevated just above the nerve and this is the site where decompression must be made by dividing the ligament.
03. Exposure to tibial nerve
Right side dissection
