1.Axillary nerve identified
A linear skin incision is made along the sulcus between the posterior head of the deltoid m. and long head of the triceps m. The axillary nerve as well as sensory cutaneous branches are identified within the depth of the fascial plane dissection. Posterior circumflex humeral a. and v. are identified exiting through the quadrangular space.
2.Radial nerve exposed
The dissection is continued along the fascial plane between the long and lateral heads of the triceps m. where the radial n. along with the deep branch of the brachial artery are found.
3. Radial to axillary nerve reinnervation
A motor branch of the radial nerve is identified, transected and transposed posteriorly. The latter is anastomosed using 9.0 nylon suture to motor branch of the axillary n.
