The Legacy section of the 3D Atlas of Neurological Surgery is dedicated to preserving and honoring the historical foundations of our discipline.  We initiate this section by including one original Bulgarian neurosurgical atlas by prof. L. Karagiozov, and prof. K. Karagiozov, representing seminal work on neurosurgical techniques with author's illustrations and text first published in the 1970s and after that in 1998.

Although many of the techniques, illustrations, and practices contained in these historical resources are no longer used in contemporary neurosurgery, they remain of profound educational and cultural value. They reflect the evolution of our specialty, the dedication of our teachers, and the lineage of knowledge upon which modern neurosurgery is built. By making these materials accessible, we aim to commemorate their authors, safeguard their contributions, and provide context for understanding the development of neurosurgical practice.

This section is intended for historical reference only. Instead, it offers a historical view into the intellectual heritage of neurosurgery in Bulgaria and beyond—a reminder that progress in our field stands on the shoulders of generations of surgeons, anatomists, and educators whose work continues to inspire excellence today.
